Theo has painted all of his life and has developed his own style. Theo’s return to Dublin reunited him with the sea, which greatly influenced his current work.
Theo’s paintings are impressionistic; the characteristics of Theo’s paintings which deem them impressionist painting include his visible knife and brushstrokes, emphasis on light in its changing qualities and the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience. Theo’s work uses indigenous colours and free flowing forms to illustrate fluidic representations, while attempting to convey the energy of the sea. His tranquil and sometimes dynamic works are aided by their open compositions.
